Ceremonial Sound Journeys
Held in ceremony, grounded in therapeutic practice.
Deeply immersive sound journeys weaving together gongs, crystal and Himalayan bowls, voice, drum and therapeutic percussion. A space to rest, listen deeply and connect with the landscapes within.
An invitation to deepen the relationship you have with yourself
In the busyness of everyday life, it can be difficult to hear ourselves clearly. These sessions offer time to pause and turn towards your own experience — your body, feelings and the quieter parts of yourself that may need some attention.
Rest is an important part of this work, alongside curiosity and reflection. Through deep listening, you’re invited to notice what is present, without needing to explain it or change it.
The Ceremonial Sound Journey
My regular small group sessions take place in the warmth of my yurt in Retford. With just eight spaces, comfortable beds, blankets and cushions, there is time to settle in and feel at home.
We begin by arriving together, with a gentle guided practice to connect with your body, breath and the sounds around you. You may choose to set an intention, or simply come with whatever the day has brought.
I then guide you through a changing landscape of sound: the depth and movement of gongs, clear crystal tones, the rich overtones of Himalayan bowls, voice, the pulse of drum and softer percussive textures. Sound and silence each have their place.
You might rest deeply, notice sensations or emotions, or drift into a dreamlike, meditative state. Every experience is different, and there is nothing you need to achieve.
We close gently, with time to return and reflect, followed by tea, an optional card pull and a chance to share before heading home.
My approach
I’m a qualified Sound Therapist, trained with the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST). My approach brings together research-informed therapeutic sound, mindful listening and self-reflection.
I work carefully with tone, texture, rhythm, volume and pace, considering how the instruments meet and how the journey unfolds. The spaces between sounds matter too, allowing time to notice and absorb your experience.
Deep listening is at the heart of my work. It begins with the sounds around you and opens into awareness of your own inner landscape — sensations, emotions, thoughts and the images or associations that may arise. Gentle reflection offers a way to explore these experiences and deepen your understanding of yourself.
Alongside this therapeutic foundation, my developing shamanic practice shapes the ceremonial way I hold each session: opening with intention, honouring our relationship with the natural world and bringing our time together to a thoughtful close.
For me, ceremony means giving this time care and attention. You are welcome to bring your own beliefs and understanding, and find your own meaning in the experience.
Why Sound?
Sound has a long history in ritual, ceremony and wellbeing. Today, research is exploring its therapeutic potential, including how sound-based practices may support our physical and emotional wellbeing.
Emerging research suggests therapeutic sound may help with:
Easing stress, anxiety and low mood
Improving sleep and restfulness
Reducing feelings of tension
Supporting relaxation, with some studies reporting changes in heart rate and blood pressure
Helping with pain and fatigue, although evidence here remains limited
Alongside these potential benefits, my sessions offer space for deep listening, reflection and connection to the landscapes within — an invitation to deepen the relationship you have with yourself.
Sometimes that feels like rest. Sometimes it brings a feeling or a fresh perspective into focus. Sometimes it is simply a sense of coming home to yourself.
If you have any health concerns or access needs, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss how to support your participation.
